Egg Bowl to be played on a Friday

The Egg Bowl will return to Friday for a third straight season. The game between Mississippi State and Ole Miss was officially moved to Nov. 27 for the 2026 season. This will be the 123rd meeting between Ole Miss and Mississippi State. The Rebels hold a 67-49-6 advantage all-time on the field (67-47-6 after vacated and forfeited wins).

Fair takes job at South Panola

Carroll County native and former Pillow Academy head coach Michael Fair is leaving his current position at Grenada High School to become the head football coach at South Panola High School in Batesville. Fair, who played at Carroll Academy and Mississippi State, directed the Chargers to the 2024 Class 6A state championship.

The Mississippi Valley State women’s and men’s basketball teams are back in action Saturday at 3 and 5 p.m., respectively, against SWAC foe Bethune-Cookman in Itta Bena. The women are 3-13 overall and 2-3 in the SWAC after Thursday’s 88-74 home loss to Florida A&M.
