After more than eight years in Itta Bena, Dianthia Ford-Kee is officially leaving her role as Mississippi Valley State’s athletic director on March 31.
University spokesperson Donell Maxie confirmed Tuesday that Ford-Kee will be departing at the end of the month. Maxie offered no reason for the split, simply saying that MVSU President Jerryl Briggs opted to “go in a different direction.”
The Delta Devils’ football team has seen improvements recently, but their basketball program has been in turmoil as of late. Third-year head coach Lindsey Hunter was placed on paid administrative leave after last Monday’s Senior Night loss. Hunter holds a record of 7-72 at MVSU.
Leading scorer Robert Carpenter missed most of conference play for the Delta Devils (2-24, 2-14 SWAC). Caleb Hunter, the team’s No. 2 scorer, didn’t play in Saturday’s loss at Arkansas-Pine Bluff after Lindsey Hunter pushed Caleb on the sidelines during a timeout in the fourth quarter of last Monday’s defeat.
Caleb Hunter declined to comment until the investigation involving his dad is complete.
Ford-Kee could not be reached for comment as of press time on Tuesday night.
