Pillow Academy, Delta Streets Academy and Carroll Academy are all sending at least one student/athlete to compete in the MAIS all-star basketball and soccer games slated for Friday at Jackson Prep.
Pillow has three girls playing in the all-star basketball game for the 4A/5A/6A classification. Madeline Mattox, Georgia Caroline Self and Sarah Presley Howard will represent the Lady Mustangs in the game, which starts at 5 p.m.
Pillow posted a 29-5 record this past season as it was eliminated in the first round of the State 5A Tournament with a 53-50 loss to Copiah Academy.
Joining the three Lady Mustangs in the contest is Carroll’s Dru Chamblee, a 5-foot-7 senior guard for the 12-13 Lady Rebels, who lost 43-34 to Marshall in the North 4A Tournament.
The 2A/3A girls game starts at 1:30 p.m., followed by the 2A/3A boys game. The 4A/5A/6A boys game will conclude the evening at 6:30 p.m.
The Division III state champion DSA Lions had two players selected for the all-star soccer contest, which starts at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Jackson Prep.
Goalie Henry Aguilar and defender Gabby Cordova will represent the 22-3 Lions in the all-star tilt. Delta Streets beat Manchester 5-2 in the state title contest last month.
Representing Pillow in the soccer game is senior Juan Carlos Hernandez. The Mustangs went 7-8-1 this past season.
