The Carroll Academy girls and boys basketball teams picked up wins on the road Thursday night at Calhoun Academy.
The Lady Rebels beat Calhoun 39-24 as they broke open a tight game at the half (19-16) by outscoring the Lady Cougars 20-8 in the second half.
Dru Chamblee led CA (7-9) with 14 points. Meri Brynn Reeves had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Bella Carter had seven points and 11 boards.
In the boys game, Carroll led 22-4 at the half en route to a 45-24 win over the Cougars, improving to 6-6. Carroll outscored Calhoun 10-9 in the third and 13-11 in the fourth.
Noah Beck led CA with 17 points. Brennan Blaylock had 11, and Mathis Beck tacked on seven points.
Carroll played host to Winona Christian Friday, and goes to Central Holmes Tuesday.
- Pillow Academy: The Mustangs dropped a 55-43 decision to visiting Bayou Academy Thursday night.
Pillow (6-13, 2-3 in District 1-5A) led 10-9 after the first period, but Bayou led 21-16 at the half and 43-30 after the third period.
John Heston Powers led PA with 13 points and eight rebounds. Nelson Hodges had nine points and five rebounds, and Cameron Lee had nine points and three boards.
In the JV girls game, Pillow (13-2, 5-0) won 51-31 as Alanna Hodo had 28 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists. Jimee Brooke Garrett tacked on 10 points, and Addison Weems had three points, made 12 steals and dished out four assists.
In the JV boys game, Bayou won 45-14 to drop the Mustangs to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in conference.
Pillow entertains Starkville academy Tuesday.
- Amanda Elzy: Kosciusko High School took a pair of games from visiting Amanda Elzy Thursday night.
In the boys game, the Whippets won 62-41 as they led 21-5 after one, 36-24 at the half and 46-30 after the third period.
Keithrick Parker led Elzy (3-9) with 15 points. Jakavion Hudson tallied nine.
In the girls game, Kosciusko came out on top 49-6 as it led 21-0 after one and 33-6 at the half. Mariyah Prayer led Elzy (2-10) with six points.
Elzy plays at Leflore County Saturday at 1 p.m.
- Delta Streets Academy: Greenville Christian School claimed a 63-19 win over the Lions Thursday night at Mississippi Valley State.
Terry Carpenter and AJ McGhee led DSA (4-13 overall, 2-4 in District 3-3A) with six points each.
DSA plays host to Rossville Christian Saturday at 2 p.m.
