A 24-year-old woman who was shot in the head at a Greenwood motel on Tuesday was still recovering Thursday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, according to Police Chief Terrence Craft.
The woman was shot following an incident between two men at America’s Best Value Inn and Suites at around 11 a.m. She was transported to UMMC.
Laderris West, 25, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He remained in the Leflore County Jail on Thursday.
West is also accused of shooting a 24-year-old man, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The 24-year-old man is also alleged to have stabbed West, although he is not yet facing charges.
Craft said Thursday police were investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting.
