A Greenwood man has been identified as the victim of a shooting south of Sidon that left him dead and another injured.
Leflore County Coroner said Demarious Jackson, 23, was found dead in a vehicle on U.S. 49 on Tuesday.
The vehicle was found off the highway in a wooded area between Sidon and Cruger.
Sanders said Jackson suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Another victim was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His condition was not available Wednesday.
No arrests had been made in connection to the shooting as of Wednesday.
Jackson’s death is the fourth gun-related homicide in Leflore County since Sunday. The total number of homicides this year is now 16, according to reporting by the Commonwealth.
