First, let me say I do subscribe to the newspaper, however, due to various reasons, I never gets to read it daily. Today, as I was reading this article and got to the part where it states that, Samantha Milton explained that board's 3-2 vote to reopen Greenwood High School campus cutting short it's COVID-19 quarantine was an oversight. The questions asked by Dr. Bailey and Mrs. Lewis should have prevented this suppose oversight. Mrs. Lewis even asked if the football players were Greenwood High School's students. I have great respect for each member of the School Board, however, I would like for Samantha Milton to explain how was it an oversight when there were 2 board members voting against the reopening because the quarantine days according to CDC and the Department of Health had not been served. Anyone who was listening to the board meeting on this date know that her statement wasn't true. I would like to personally challenge our board members to take a few minutes out his/her busy schedule and go back and listen to some of the recorded meetings because some of the most important questions asked especially those concerning how they are handling COVID-19 are not properly answered by the district. Our school district has never taken COVID-19 guidelines or laws implemented to protect employees seriously. At one board meeting it was stated that the kids were 3 feet apart in the classroom, which wasn't true, because I personally looked in my child classroom and saw that it was packed with kids who were sitting too close to each when CDC guidelines stated that they should be 3 feet apart. I constantly prayed that virtual learning would be approved because the stress from worrying about my child safety had me extremely nervous. I know that in person learning is better but I thank God that so far we have been blessed with excellent teachers virtually.
