The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board has made changes to the school district’s administrative organizational structure.
On Friday during a special called meeting, the board unanimously voted to have the district’s chief financial officer report to the district’s assistant superintendent of organizational support.
The chief financial officer previously reported to the superintendent, Dr. Mary Brown. Kelia Washington is the chief financial officer, and Charles Johnson is the assistant superintendent of organizational support.
In that same motion, the board voted to have the district’s chief of athletics and chief of compliance and extracurricular activities report to the superintendent.
The modifications were made to ensure that the assistant superintendent and superintendent have the same level of responsibility, said the board’s president, Samantha Milton.
She declined to say whether the organizational changes were related to a closed-door grievance hearing the school board held earlier this month regarding an apparent conflict between two unnamed district employees.
The board also voted 4-1 “to formally rescind the resignation of the chief of finance,” Milton said, not mentioning Washington by name.
Dr. Ro’Shaun Bailey cast the sole dissenting vote.
Before the vote, the board met for about 90 minutes in closed session, citing personnel issues.
Milton said that the board “voted in executive session to deny or reject the grievance against the respondent,” again not mentioning anyone by name.
It was the fifth time this month that the board had closed its doors and cited personnel issues.

A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the chief of athletics and chief of compliance and extracurricular activities would report to the assistant superintendent.
