Editor, Commonwealth:
Thank you so much for your honest and truthful view about the cowardice of our Republican congressmen (“GOP’s dereliction of duty,” July 23).
“Dereliction of duty” sounds timid for what they are doing, but that’s what it is. I call it governmental negligence.
I consider the Republican Party to now be a cult.
I am so proud of Congressman Bennie Thompson for leading the Jan. 6 investigation. History will hold him in high regard.
These days I keep thinking about two things. Lee Greenwood had a popular song years ago in which one line was, “There are none so blind as those who will not see.” The other one was what my grandmother said to me when I was young; why I remember it, I don’t know. But she said, “Camille, some people just don’t have good walking around sense.” Even as a child, I knew what she meant.
So, thank you again and please keep putting it in front of Mississippians.
Camille Wright
