RESOLUTION FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GREENWOOD TO CHANGE THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF A PROPERTY LOCATED ON SGT. JOHN PITTMAN DRIVE IN SECTIONAL LOT 13 OF SECTION 4, TOWNSHIP 19 NORTH, RANGE 1 EAST, LEFLORE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, FROM R-1-7, SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT TO C-2 COMMUNITY COMMERCIAL DISTRICT TO ALLOW A MORTUARY
WHEREAS, on April 15, 2018, the Greenwood Planning Commission considered the request of Ray Mattox, representing Mrs. J.W. Mims to amend the City’s Zoning Ordinance to rezone from R-1-7, Single Family Residential District, to C-2 Community Commercial District to allow a mortuary to be located on Sgt. John Pittman Drive. This property is located between Crystal Health and Rehab and the Elks Lodge on Sgt. John Pittman Drive, Greenwood, MS. Legal Description: Sectional Lot 13, Section 4, Township 19 North, Range 1 East, Leflore County, Greenwood, MS.
WHEREAS, notice of the request for re-zoning, exception, special exception, special use exception, and/or amendment to the Greenwood Zoning Ordinance was given to the public by publication of a notice in the Greenwood Commonwealth on July 31, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the projected uses for the property is a mortuary; and
WHEREAS, the Greenwood Planning Commission after reviewing the request by Ray Mattox, representing Mrs. J.W. Mims, and there being no further questions or discussions, the Commission voted by majority vote to recommend to the City Council that the request for the amendment to the Greenwood Zoning Ordinance be approved and granted; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GREENWOOD, MISSISSIPPI, as follows:
That Mrs. J.W. Mims be granted her request for a re-zoning from R-1-7, Single Family Residential District, to C-2 Community Commercial District to allow a mortuary to be located on Sgt. John Pittman Drive on property located between Crystal Health and Rehab and the Elks Lodge on Sgt. John Pittman Drive, Greenwood, MS. Legal Description: Sectional Lot 13, Section 4, Township 19 North, Range 1 East, Leflore County, Greenwood, MS.
The above and foregoing resolution having been first reduced to writing was considered section by section and then as a whole, having been introduced by Councilperson Johnny Jennings, was duly seconded for adoption by Councilperson Charles E. McCoy, Sr., and upon a vote being called, received the following vote:
