Editor, Commonwealth:
We have a problem in Greenwood. It’s been around for years.
There are deep “Grand Canyon” potholes at the railroad crossing on Grenada Boulevard. No wonder mechanic shops are busy as honeybees fixing front-end damage to cars and trucks. We have to pay for these repairs out of pocket, and nothing is cheap, not in 2024. It ain’t 1970 no more.
Is someone asleep? You put your cheap fill-in to patch it up, but the potholes come back in six months.
If I had a dollar for every pothole in Greenwood, I’d be a millionaire wearing a Rolex watch made of pure gold.
Could 18-wheeler trucks be one reason for the potholes? They must weigh tons with a full load.
What do our out-of-town visitors think about our roads and streets? Welcome to Greenwood.
Of course, making repairs to streets and roads here and there is like putting your finger in a hole in a dam.
I don’t think insurance pays for front-end damage due to potholes. It’s out of pocket.
Potholes, there’s no end in sight.
