Authorities say a man was shot after he attempted to break into a Greenwood home on Tuesday.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said officers responded to an incident at the 200 block of McCain Street around noon.
Craft said that the male suspect came into the home through a back window and entered the bedroom. He said the suspect was armed with a knife.
A female occupant of the home confronted the suspect and shot him, Craft said. The suspect was transported out of Greenwood to receive medical attention, but Craft was unsure of where the wounded man was taken and did not know his condition on Tuesday afternoon.
Craft said the home’s occupant was not harmed and the incident is being treated as self-defense.
Once the suspect’s condition has been determined, Craft said, the man will face charges for the home invasion.
