Last year’s flu season was a killer. As many as 1.1 million Americans were hospitalized and as many as 99,000 died, according to the latest estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If the final figures are anywhere close to that, that would mean the flu killed twice as many Americans last year as did COVID-19.
