Today marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of France that became a turning point in winning World War II.
The heroic soldiers — from the U.S., Britain and Canada — who staged the invasion knew many of them would not survive the German gunners. Most of those who did survive are now gone.
