Regarding Charles Corder’s op-ed column (“Beliefs have their limits,” Sept. 4):
No law supercedes God’s law for those who are true born-again Christians anywhere in the world. Yes, we obey the law of the land until that law goes against God’s laws and instructions. The watered-down, white-washed churches of the world will only go along with those who continue to butter their bread with a tax-exempt status.
Every true born-again Christian is being persecuted in the world today. Americans have never been surprised to hear of ministers and followers of the Gospel of Christ Jesus being arrested in other countries, but to hear that it is happening in the United States of America is appalling to many. The United States has turned into nothing more than a cesspool of sin (all sin) for many, as has the rest of the Western world.
America is closer to hell than ever before. When God does remove his hedge of protection from America, destruction will come, if he has not already done so.

Rebel flag
For whites who say that removing the Rebel flag from the Carroll County Courthouse grounds is an attempt to rewrite or erase history, it is important to recall a piece of history that has been largely, if not entirely, erased from white Carroll County consciousness (and conscience): the Carroll County Courthouse massacre of March 17, 1886, in which 10 blacks were brutally murdered in the courthouse and on the lawn by a group of white men for daring to show up at the trial of a white man accused by black men of a crime.
Although this event has been swept under the rug by the white community, the Rebel flag on the courthouse lawn serves as a reminder to blacks and a warning — whether whites want to acknowledge that or not.
Jelani Barr
I see Jelani Barr waited until he lost the election to sue the city of Greenwood. In my opinion, he is not qualified, nor does he have the personality to be lieutenant governor.
As far as butting into police business, he really should drive on by and maybe get a life. He seems to be a troublemaker.
