Fatal shooting
Regarding the Commonwealth’s reporting on the fatal shooting of Repredto Reed.
I think the Commonwealth did its job. When any person passes away, his life history is written about.
The Commonwealth stated he was a tremendous athlete. I am just sorry he didn’t fulfill his potential — get a college scholarship for his God-given gifts, earn a degree and a respectable living. So sad. This man’s life was lost long before his actual date of death.
Bless this family and the friends of this man. May others going the same path learn by his example.

Prison closing
Regarding the article “Prison workers prepare for closure” (Nov. 29):
This is a sad day in Greenwood. It is almost like a funeral. Heck, it is a funeral when a small town is losing 241 jobs in an economic time like this during the most joyous time of the year (Christmas).
I hope everyone who was involved in this tragedy can’t sleep at night. But some of our leaders probably are sleeping like a baby, especially those two supervisors who were mentioned in several meetings by state and local officials.
People, these guys are still getting paid while others will not have jobs. I pray for the families, economy and the money that Greenwood will miss due to this tragedy.

Blues fest
Regarding the article “Woman: Blues fest ‘obscene’” (Nov. 25):
Who owns the Leflore County Civic Center? Why on earth are we employing someone who would bring this type of show to Greenwood? And what does gyrating sexually on stage have to do with the blues?
