Crop duster crash
Regarding the article “Crop duster pilot dies in crash” (July 26):
My heart goes out to the family. My dad was a crop duster and was killed due to mechanical failure.
There is no way to express the pain this family is going through. You have to live it to know.
My heart is aching for the McCreary family and for mine. I have relived every moment since I heard about this awful tragedy.

Larry Griggs’ letter
Regarding Larry Griggs’ letter to the editor (“Who says blacks can’t think for themselves?” July 24):
At last, someone in the right era. Both races here seem to live in the ’60s — permanently!
Whites are not to blame for all of the problems of African-Americans, and African-Americans certainly don’t need support or approval from the white population to succeed.
Larry Griggs, please run for office. We need representatives who reflect the opinions of working members of both races so that we can progress.
The stereotyping here is ridiculous. All whites are not rich and racist, and all blacks are not lazy and uneducated.
Believe me, until those members of both races with the desire and work ethic to succeed band together, Greenwood is stuck in a whirlpool circling the drain.
Multiracial VBS
Regarding the article “Bible school at FBC deemed a success” (July 25):
Is the Delta in a time warp? In the rest of the United States, children of multiple races and cultural backgrounds attend Vacation Bible School together, and it is not even considered news for the religion page, much less the front page.
Also, in the rest of the United States, disabled people with service dogs routinely eat in restaurants without having to beg for their rights. (See Kelly Hull Gallaher’s letter to the editor, “Restaurants can’t ban service dogs,” July 25).
Is anyone in this part of Mississippi interested in moving in to the 21st century? Do you ever get embarrassed about yourselves?
Leaves me puzzled
