Chassaniol column
Regarding Sen. Lydia Chassaniols op-ed column Missed opportunity (April 24):
Oh, yes. The students, rarely mentioned, non-voters now, will miss the opportunity for longer, thrilling and sometimes dangerous bus rides on the winding, hilly gravel roads over some condemned bridges of Carroll County, some for as much as four hours a day.
Ease travel constraints during horse-and-buggy days? Just reduce the size of Carroll County Winona to Montgomery County, and Greenwood to Leflore County. Seemed reasonable in 1881.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

House Bill 1523
Regarding Sherry Stallings letter to the editor (HB 1523 is safeguard against LGBT coercion, April 7):
Too often in our country, we major in the minor and minor in the major. Of all the things we should be concerned with, our Legislature shoved this foolishness out.
We, as believers, must learn our salvation is not predicated on how others live, which is why Im against legislating morality. If I sell cars, Im not concerned with who is buying them as long as they are being purchased. I dont understand why we want to conflict religion and commerce.
In addition, Stallings restroom argument is a fear tactic at best. Life is a risk. How does she know shes not in danger with the current setup? How does she know she hasnt already encountered a transgendered male in the restroom with her? How does she know she hasnt encountered a pedophile of the same gender?
Her argument is simply biased ranting at best.

MDA giveaway
Regarding the editorial MDA director extends giveaway (April 24):
Why is this surprising? Its quid pro quo as usual.
How many small local businesses are ever afforded any incentives? Remember all those deals Haley Barbour did that failed? Wonder who were the board members of those corporations? Any connections?
I used to support Republicans, but it appears they are willing to break our state for their own benefit.
