Pepper-spraying
Regarding the letter from Denetra Ware (“Mail carrier sprayed dog unnecessarily,” Sept. 28):
I was a letter carrier in Greenwood for more years than most. In my 35 years of carrying mail from house to house, I was dog-bit eight times. Not a one of those dogs, according to their owners, would bite.
Yes, letter carriers spray dogs sometimes. It is the only thing they can do to stop from getting bitten.
One thing I learned fast: if a dog has teeth, he will bite.
If you do not want your dog sprayed, then put it away from the mailbox.

Greenwood
Postal service
Regarding the editorial “Postal Service is playing favorites” (Oct. 7):
I agree this is a bit alarming, and I certainly hope our mailboxes don’t get inundated with junk mail because of it.
However, I would note that prominent conservatives such as Wyatt Emmerich are all about the U.S. Postal Service needing to be competitive and run more like a business until the kind of predatory competitiveness they otherwise so love turns around to bite them.
Something about logical consequences, I think.

Kalich column
Regarding the op-ed column by Tim Kalich (“Life is difficult on the fence,” Oct. 7):
Ha, ha, ha. Tim Kalich undecided? I don’t think so. He will vote for the Republican, no matter who she or he is.
Don’t make me laugh again. I think I will. Ha, ha, ha, ha.

Voter fraud
Regarding the Oct. 8 letter from Willie Griffin (“Where’s the evidence of fraud at the polls?”):
When I vote in Greenwood, I am asked my name. That’s it. I could be anybody.
Charlie could have been dead for years, and I could be anyone else who wanted to cast an extra vote.
