The draft
The government should put the draft back in. Take all these punky kids not in school, on drugs, staying in trouble. Put them in boot camp until they get old enough to enter the military.
Take all these gangs, non-working thugs, rapists, murderers, etc. No matter how old they are, if they make trouble, roaming the streets, not working, drug dealers or pushers, etc., put them all in the military draft.
This will solve a lot of problems. The citizens, homes and streets would be a lot safer. The military would have more soldiers to send anywhere in the world where they are needed and are calling for more soldiers. They should not be able to get out for five years or more. If they go AWOL, shoot them.
This is the best way to solve a lot of problems. There will be more jobs available, more peace and security at home.

Donald Trump
The obstructionist Re-publican Party despises President Obama and tried to block every single thing he set out to do. The Republicans had a meeting on the same day and at the same hour that Mr. Obama was inaugurated to talk about blocking him at every turn before he did anything good or bad.
These are the same people who gave us Donald Trump. When Trump gets through tanking the Republican Party — and he will — it’s going to be a while before we get it back. That’s bad for us as a country and puts in jeopardy our place in the world.
If you follow hatred and bigotry, this is where it leads.
Lord have mercy on us.

Inmates’ free speech
Regarding Tim Kalich’s op-ed column “Free speech not just for the free” (Oct. 16):
I find the editor’s comments kinda funny after we learn Julian Assange had his internet service severed.
