Greenwood police
Regarding the letter by Jim Pinkston, “One paper, two views of Greenwood police” (June 10):
The Greenwood police are doing the best they can with the tools they have.
It is true that several police officers will answer a call. If I was an officer, I would not stop anyone for anything without someone else there on my side.
I have never had an officer stop me unless I was doing something wrong.
Just Sayin (“My Two Cents,” June 6) probably got pulled over recently and issued a citation because of something he or she did wrong and is holding a resentment. It is easy to take out my wrongs on someone else.
Greenwood has a lot of crime for a small city. The police go into places I would never go, knowing there are guns involved. I say, “Thank you for your service.”
And they don’t get paid nearly enough for the job they do.

‘Booker’s Place’
Regarding the article “‘Booker’s Place’: Film tells high price black waiter paid for being honest about racism in the 1960s” (June 10):
There’s a big difference between the meaning of the word “story” in journalism (newspaper or television) and “story” in film. One is news reporting, the other is storytelling.
The filmmakers of “Booker’s Place” were obviously trying to tell the story of Booker Wright and his family, and if that entailed showing oral histories of the kind of mistreatment Booker experienced in Greenwood in a time bygone, or if it involved delving into the conspiracy theory of a murder for hire because that’s what the family believes may have happened, then so be it.

Nature trail
Regarding the article “Nature trail progressing” (June 11):
It would have been really nice if somehow they could have also made spots for tent camping. And cleaned off a place on the bank so people could fish. Kind of have our own little campground weekend getaway here in Greenwood.
