Stallings’ letter
A grand-style salute to you, Sherry Stallings, on your letter to the editor (“Media and politicians prefer racial divide,” July 21):
The display that most have shown is nothing short of corruption with a capital “C.” This Delta girl applauds your writing style and plain-spoken common sense. The nation needs more of you.
The verdict is in on the death of Trayvon Martin, the bell rang and not one of us can change what happened on that terrible day.

Minus the race factor, are you saying, Sherry Stallings, that it is OK for a person to follow and stalk someone because that person looks “suspicious”? Are you saying it is then justified to shoot an unarmed person because he looks “suspicious”? Do you think it’s OK to shoot an unarmed person even though the 911 operator told you to cease and desist?

Regarding the article “Itta Bena finances improving” (July 22):
How in the world has Itta Bena Mayor Thelma Collins improved the financial issues this soon? She only went to the newspaper to make Walter Parker, the former mayor, look bad.
In fact, it was under her administration that the grocery store closed. The situation is only worse now because we don’t have that tax base.
