Death spree
Hopeful heart, you spoke to me in your comment in “My Two Cents” (July 10) about last week’s violence in Dallas and elsewhere.
I want to add that we all should stop the generalizations, assuming and speculating before facts are gathered by proper authorities. Every black male is not acting out, just as every white cop does not want to shoot someone.
That being said, however, any individual who is questioned by a law enforcement officer should listen, then immediately comply with the officer’s request until a situation has been calmed and understanding is reached.
Thank you, Dallas Police Chief David Brown, for your leadership and being one of America’s true heroes.

My heart goes out to the families of the fallen policemen in Dallas. I just can imagine their hearts right now.
The families of all the ones who were killed at the hands of policemen, my heart goes out to you as well.
But America, we need to understand one thing: Killing is not the answer.
If the police are wrong, their day will come to light. People need to pray before doing something that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Think of God first, please. The killing has got to stop.
I can’t stop thinking about Dallas. The families destroyed for nothing. Very sad.
OK, a cop killed someone for nothing. Killing cops doesn’t make it right. Two wrongs. You can’t get right out of it.
Don’t misunderstand me. I look at the news every day. I know what is happening. Just tired of it.
In case you are wondering, I am African-American.

Black power
In reference to the article “‘Black power’ call still resonates” (July 12):
I would like to congratulate Staff Writer Chloe Ricks for a job well done. The article was very informative and gave due recognition to some civil rights workers who are never mentioned.
It’s good to know that there are still some young blacks who are concerned about the struggle blacks endured in the 1960s.
Continue your good work, Chloe.
