Johnny Langdon Sr.
Regarding the article “Langdon adds to list of allegations” (Feb. 2):
If Johnny Langdon Sr. had been doing his job properly, he wouldn’t have cared if the mayor was in and out of the Greenwood Police Department or not.
I do my job, and if my boss wants to see what I do, I have no problem with him observing. I even encouraged my boss to attend a seminar that gave him more in-depth understanding of what my job entails.
In another job I had a boss who fit some of the names Langdon called the mayor. Did I go on a rant and make a fool of myself? No, I got another job and resigned with a nice letter. Mr. Langdon should learn. It is never good to burn bridges.

I would like to thank the mayor for hearing the people. Johnny Langdon Sr. has been part of the problem.
President’s house
I find it interesting that new Mississippi Valley State University President William Bynum Jr. tells his faculty, who haven’t gotten a raise in years, that "we simply don’t have the money" but somehow has found over $9,000 of university funds to purchase furnishings for his home from Neiman Marcus.
Is that our tax dollars at work? At the very least, couldn’t he buy locally?
I encourage all readers to check out MVSU’s fiscal transparency page: transparency.mvsu.edu.
Textbooks
The state didn’t purchase enough books for the children in K-3 this year as well as last school year.
My child is in first grade and has never brought a textbook home. So I dare the state to try to hold my child back due to some test.
Maybe the state thinks K-3 students are not responsible enough for books. How do you expect parents to help their child at home with no textbook?
State, get ready for a fight, because my child is not getting a fair education and has been picked out by you for failing.
You have not provided the materials the children need to learn.
