Skating rink injury
Regarding the article “Skating rink incident probed” (Aug. 29):
If Larry McCline knows for a fact that Spotlite Skating Rink is a “very violent environment,” why does he allow his son to frequent there? What responsibility does this parent assume?
If there is the propensity for danger to occur, the parents endanger their child when they allow the child to patronize this establishment.

Larry McCline, I am so sorry about what happened to your child, but if you think it is so violent a place, why pay for your child to go there? You do have to pay, you know.
I have five grandchildren who pay to go there. If I thought as you do, I would not give them money to go.
And you are right, Larry “Kite” Johnson. No one writes about the good the Greenwood Community and Recreation Center and the rink do, like help keep kids off the streets and out of trouble.
As for fighting, kids fight everywhere — school, church, etc.

Deputies’ shooting
Regarding the comment Sunday in “My Two Cents” that was critical of me:
I went back to my comment on Aug. 25 to see what accusations I made. I didn’t find any.
Maybe my critic was referring to the accusations that came about after the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation studied the facts of the shooting incident in Holmes County involving the two deputies from Carroll County firing nine shots at an occupied vehicle.
Or maybe my critic was referring to accusations that came from a grand jury that served a 21-count indictment against these two “good” deputies.
In any case, I find it strange for one law enforcement branch, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, to say the shooting was justified, and then another law enforcement branch, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, to present evidence that results in a 21-count indictment. Maybe they went to different schools or something. I don’t know.
