Donald Trump
Donald Trump didn’t win the presidency because of Michigan, Wisconsin or Ohio. He won because of the oldest formula known to man: “Reaping what you sow.”
The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:13-17 that people who are in positions of authority are due respect. Mr. Trump championed the birther nonsense against the first African-American president of this country, and no one who had the authority to shut him down did so.
That was six years ago. Now it seems like it’s time to pay the check.
We knew who this guy was a long time ago, and we elected him anyway. So, buckle up because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Just a Thought
Charlottesville
When the devil comes to town, he brings destruction and death because that is his job.
The devil came to Charlottesville, Virginia, in the form of the Ku Klux Klan and other hate terrorist groups. The world saw what the Stars and Bars that flies at our state Capitol means to many. It is a symbol of hate and destruction. It is one of the marks of the devil.
Mississippi can continue to fly it, but let's call it what it is. Alternate facts in this case will cause lives to be lost.

Loud exhausts
Regarding the recent comments in “My Two Cents” about loud exhausts:
If loud exhausts are against Greenwood’s Code of Ordinances and Mississippi law, why are these laws not being enforced? The City Council should be aware of all ordinances it has adopted.
Loud exhausts can be heard all over town day and night.
Loud music is covered in the same city ordinance, and it has been enforced by issuing citations.

Bill Burrus
Regarding Bill Burrus’ column “Lights still shine bright as he starts 25th year on sidelines” (Aug. 20):
Bill, you’ve done a great job covering the local schools and the “Big Three” universities through the years. You always keep us up to speed on the local kids long after their high school careers are over. Thanks and keep up the good work!
