Personal care homes
Regarding the article “Battle rages over care options” (Aug. 14):
I took it upon myself to visit a personal care home in Greenwood, Country Meadow, the other day. By just walking in, I felt at home. Everything was intact. I didn’t smell urine or feces like I do when I visit a nursing home.
Even though there are nurses and nurse assistants in nursing homes, there is still neglect toward the residents who live there.
You families that have relatives at the nursing home, check on them. They are not treated fairly.
Danny Edwards is doing a great job at Country Meadow and should be commended for his accomplishment in providing a peaceful home for the elderly. At least his heart is in the right direction.
So stop fighting the good work of personal care homes and clean up your act at the nursing home.
Mr. Edwards did not ask me to write this. As far as I am concerned, he doesn’t know anything about this.
From someone who cares
Preston Ratliff
In response to Good Eye’s comments in “My Two Cents” Sunday:
What do you mean the voters have not spoken? Preston Ratliff lost. Get over it.
That’s what’s wrong with our community. We are always blaming someone else. The Abrahams did not punch the machine or vote 500 times for Anjuan Brown. The people in District 3 did.
Greenwood is not prospering. That’s why they spoke loud and clear they want a new leader.

Sam Abraham
I have a splendid idea. If Sam Abraham wants to control the votes of the Leflore County Board of Supervisors, why doesn’t he give up his $208,000 jobs and run for supervisor and be paid $40,000? That way he can vote as he pleases.
Just a thought.
Missing dog
Would the man who took my dog, a black-and-tan dachshund mix, from Exxon the night of Aug. 12 please return by beloved companion?
