Lying candidates
I felt compelled to respond to your editorial in Sunday’s paper (“Trump’s lying is over the top,” Sept. 18).
Really? Tim Kalich, surely you jest. Whom are you trying to convince that questioning the birthplace of your president is more consequential than lying about the Benghazi attack, unsecured emails and classified documents.
Yes, why would we want to tempt fate and head toward another presidential crisis by election HilLIARy Clinton?

Leflore schools
I’m a concerned parent of the Leflore County School District. My main concern is for the children who attend school in this district.
My question is to Dr. Ilean Richards, the conservator, and to the athletic director of this district. Why do high school students and junior high football players have to catch rides home or call their parents? This is absurd. Students are really working hard in classrooms and practice. Why would Dr. Richards cut the budget and have children not have a sufficient ride home?

Voting machines
Regarding Tim Kalich’s op-ed column “Put the printers back on” (Sept. 18):
I’ve made my living on computers for almost 20 years. I’m still a “techno-idiot.” I have probably sent more emails than Hillary Clinton but still send wrong/very embarrassing emails to the wrong people. It can take me 10 minutes at the grocery store to figure out how to use the latest credit card machine.
The right to vote is too important to rely on the average person’s grasp of technology. I keep hard copies of all potentially important business electronic records. My son and I keep hard copies of all his online school assignments.
Removing printers/hard copy documentation from electronic voting machines is akin to voter ID laws — designed to recreate a 21st century version of how Lyndon Johnson stole the election 70 years ago that put him in the Senate and, ultimately, the White House.
