Raising kids is one of the hardest things to do in this life, but if done well, the most rewarding.
Talk with your child and value his or her words. Put down the phone and make a real breakfast. Chips and/or donuts are not breakfast.
Work with the child’s teacher. Sit down over a meal at a family table and share with your child how you calmly resolved a problem that you faced. Ask them about the roses and thorns of their day.
Raising children is the responsibility of you, not your parent. Lean on the Lord. Love Him if you’re blessed to have healthy kids. Especially thank Him.
Raising kids is tough but so rewarding. Teach them values that will sustain them through good and bad times.
Carrollton bump
It’s nice to see the towns of Carrollton and North Carrollton “sprucing up” and looking good for the two days of the Pilgrimage this weekend. However, it would be so great if the town of Carrollton could fix the awful bump going down to the Carroll Academy gym that is used by many taxpayers two to three times daily, almost every day.
There is nowhere to move over on either side. Just a rough ditch.
It is causing wear and tear on vehicles. Hope to see improvements soon.

Sheriff’s departments
Regarding the article “Sheriff accused of retaliatory firings” (Sept. 28):
What is up with these sheriff’s departments? Tunica County has problems, Tallahatchie County had problems. So does Leflore County, but for some reason it never hits the newspaper. There have been several complaints about the operation of the Leflore County Sheriff’s Department.
This is the only county where innocent people are targets and deputies get the blind eye when it comes to criminals. This is the only county where you can stand on a parking lot down from the police station and drink in public, while deputies pass by and turn their heads.
Y’all better vote come election.
