No confidence vote
Regarding the article “Faculty group unhappy with MVSU chief” (Nov. 8):
The Commonwealth reported that Dr. Donna Oliver stated that she doesn’t think the vote of no confidence by the faculty Senate represents the entire community at Mississippi Valley State University.
The members of the faculty Senate are voted into office by the faculty to represent the entire faculty, just as we vote for persons to represent our interests in Jackson. The faculty Senate represents the total faculty. Dr. Oliver could not be that out of touch that she doesn’t know the process. If so, maybe this is a part of their concern.
“There are some people that would have rather that I not become their president, and that wasn’t based on anything other than that they wanted someone else,” she stated.
That’s an excuse. She’s been here three years. She has shown no leadership or improvement at the university.
Prison letter
Regarding the letter to the editor from T.W. King (“Trust me, prison is not a fun place to be,” Nov. 9):
This individual made more sense in his brief letter than all the ramblings of all other letter writers and commentators combined.

As a retired employee from the Ruleville School District, I well recall working with Viola Williams and the reasons she left the district. I hope all her supporters are still as supportive of her in the next few years as they are now.

Regarding the article “Fisher gets 27 months in prison” (Nov. 4):
I bet there are some sore wrists after these verdicts.
