Market St. mayhem
Regarding the editorial (“Questions surround Market St. mayhem”):
Thank you for asking the hard questions in regard to the shootout on Market Street.
Why was there no local law enforcement present? Why is the crime scene being remodeled so soon? And the list goes on.
Can anyone really expect Lee Abraham’s best state buddy, Jim Hood, to do a fair and honest investigation? Why were state agents acting as personal bodyguards on taxpayers’ money?
What is so sad is this fight was between white men, but the only person dead is a black man.
I am not interested in hearing from Jordan, Perkins, Brown, Johnson, Moore or Osborne. I want to hear from the other “black leaders.” You asked for the job. Now lead.
Ask the hard questions, demand answers, make a public statement.

There is more to this shootout than what is being said? How and why would these two young men get tied up in this situation with people outside their own community? How did these professional people know these alleged hit men? Were they just riding in South Greenwood and stopped these two on the street and offered them the job?
There is a deep smell to this situation.

We’ve always had our share of problems, what with drugs, unemployment, teenage pregnancies, gang bangers and being one of the most impoverished states in the country. Now come things like this.
If this was truly a life threat on Lee Abraham, my prayer goes out to him in hopes that the low-life, yellow-backed dog responsible be brought to swift justice and may the punishment be at least twice the crime. It is hard to even begin to imagine how it affects a man when he or members of his family are being threatened.
I must say, though, it is rather hard to believe that two young men here in Greenwood could be part of such an elaborate scheme and then be dumb enough to show up at the exact right place at the exact right time to be apprehended by the exact right people.
It all demands some serious investigation.
