Burglary binge
Regarding the article “Burglars plague neighborhood” (June 8):
You should’ve had the guns in your hands, not in your cars. Dummies.

What the heck’s wrong with these people? Yo, firearms are serious business. They’re worth a lot, and bad people hurt people with them.
The first thing I taught my son about firearms is that if you are going to own one, it is your responsibility to have full control over it at all times. That doesn’t mean sitting in your car overnight.

Abandoned puppy
Regarding the letter by Nancy Gaugh (“Abandoning puppy was evil thing to do,” June 12):
This is so heart-breaking. I could not agree with Gaugh more.
Oh, that man who dumped the puppy could have been caught and prosecuted. Or dumped on a highway 500 miles from nowhere.
There has to be a special place for idiots like this.

Pre-kindergarten
Regarding the Leflore County School Board’s vote to start a pre-kindergarten program at Leflore County Elementary School:
I think that it will be a good thing to start letting 4-year-olds go to Leflore. I have a 4-year-old boy, and now he can go to Leflore with his sister on the bus.
I have had to take him to the Head Start center he attends, and sometimes even had to find a way to get there, because it does not provide transportation.
So if this does happen, I will be a proud parent. I hope it will start in August when school starts back.

Texting while driving
Regarding the editorial “Some stupidity should be outlawed” (June 11):
Failure by state, local and county officials to enact such specific legislation is where the real stupidity lies.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of extant traffic laws that do allow cops to make stops and issue citations.
No reason to wait. If the lawmakers are as stupid as the texters, just release the law dogs.
It’s a fact that cell phones cause more accidents than alcohol.
