Greenwood schools
Regarding the editorial “Protest was about politics, not kids” (July 28):
As an attendee at Saturday’s rally, I can assure those who were not in attendance that this effort was NOT political as you may deem the usual politics to be. This effort was for the unification of people who have an interest in the education of our children to ensure that the right people are put in or removed from positions that affect the education of our children.
If you have an interest — children, grandchildren, relatives employed with the district, I challenge you to join in this effort. That way you can determine for yourself whether or not it is political or simply a body of concerned citizens “politicking” for the betterment of the educational system in the Greenwood public schools.

I attended the rally on Saturday and I’m left wondering:
Where were the elected officials, city and county? Where were the religious leaders?
You say it’s all about the children, so why did you not do the same thing on behalf of the children of the county schools? Are they less important?
Percy Powell and Willie Young, when you were in the clique with the other administration, everything was OK. People lost their jobs then, too, but you all did not protest, rally or make a fuss, so get over it and seek employment elsewhere.
David Jordan, Robert Strebeck is not doing things right in the county schools. So why are you all not standing in front of the county administration building and calling him all of those insulting names?

Regarding the article “Crowd protests state of schools” (July 27):
Now I have it figured out. I could not understand why David Jordan wanted the state to take over the Greenwood School District. It is because he wants to get back at Carolyn McAdams for her appointments to the school board.
David Jordan cares nothing about the children, only his own political agenda.
