George James
I spent some of the happiest days of my youth working for Mr. George James at Crosstown Pharmacy. He taught me so much, and he loved us. I never remember him saying a cross word to us — not when I melted 150 pills in the heat-sealing machine, not when I typed as slow as Christmas on that old manual typewriter during the ice storm, not when I spilled candle wax all over the carpet in the pharmacy during that same ice storm. I bet he couldn't wait for that ice to melt!
He used to send us down the road to buy everyone ice cream or snow cones. I learned about the practice of pharmacy, I learned about customer service, I learned about patience, and I learned about compassion during my time there.
Days like today are hard for me. I can't always get back to Mississippi as quickly as I would like to or whenever I would like to. Today I'll just go into the office and take care of patients as Mr. James would have.

The very people who are against the increase for the Leflore County schools are the ones who benefit from the financial resources of the residents of Leflore County, such as residents doing business in the county so that they, the same ones with the complaints, can afford to send their children to private schools.
Citizens of Greenwood and Leflore County, it’s time to give back and support the county’s public schools.
