Itta Bena water
I am a concerned citizen in the town of Itta Bena. This relates to the water being shut off without any type notice, nor do we know the reason why the water is off. We are citizens, and we deserve to know what is going on in the town of Itta Bena.
The water was off Saturday for five to six hours, and Tuesday it was off again and we don’t know why.
We, as citizens, should have a right to know and whether the water is safe to drink or use. We should know if we have to boil the water first before using it. There should be some type of notification whether through social media or television.

Editor’s note: As explained in an article that appeared in the Commonwealth on Wednesday, the water was shut off in Itta Bena because of a break to a water main. Residents have been advised to boil their water until further notice. Town officials apologized for not getting the word out sooner.
Hospital consultant
Regarding the article “Hospital board votes to hire consultant” (Feb. 6):
Just one question: How much more money will the hospital pay for consultants? It’s like the flavor of the week. Hire a consultant, fire a consultant. It seems like a never-ending cycle.
Wasn’t the interim CEO employed by another consultanting firm that the hospital hired?

Garbage fees
Regarding the article “More charges added to garbage bills” (Feb. 1):
Obviously the Leflore County Board of Supervisors doesn’t understand basic economics or arithmetic.
You don’t provide services you’re not compensated for, and littering in public is a misdemeanor.
So what exactly can’t the board figure out?

Willie Perkins
Regarding the article “Perkins asks for $8,000+ for new furniture” (Jan. 30):
What about his new jeweled crown, throne, ermine robe, and scepter?
