Holden vs. Horan
Regarding Clarence’s comment in “My Two Cents” (Aug. 4) about the alleged assault on Reta Holden by state Rep. Kevin Horan:
So, Clarence, you never touch anybody for any reason? Interesting. No hugging, no handshaking, no encouraging pats on the back. Sad. Hope you don’t have kids!
I guess every time I hug a grandchild or friend or touch someone’s arm to show affection or appreciation, I’m assaulting them.
A picture may be worth more than words, as you say, but sometimes what you see isn’t what you get. I’m confident this was a set- up since one of the people who came with Holden was strategically placed with camera in hand at just the right moment. The better person definitely won this election.

Barr vs. Johnson
Regarding the Democratic race for lieutenant governor:
Tim Johnson has also been a Madison alderman and Madison County supervisor in addition to a former state senator. Barr has not held public office.
I think the point was proven why the election turned out the way it did.
Standing at the polls, voters might be thinking: experience vs. no experience, education vs. legal weed on the street.
Common sense? Yeah, the voters used it!
