Traffic stop
Regarding the article “Police stop troubles Cruger mayor” (Aug. 19):
Wearing seat belts is the law, a good one that protects us all.
If I were Arrica Weatherall, I’d be grateful that her son and his companions were stopped and “reminded.”
Law enforcement is there for a reason.

Ole Miss
This is in response to the op-ed columns Aug. 17 by Wyatt Emmerich (“A couple of bad decisions”) and Charles M. Dunagin (“Still Ole Miss, by ...”).
As far as Ole Miss, Colonel Reb, the Confederate flag and all the rest of the racist symbols that are connected to this school, we shouldn’t lose any sleep about it.
The generation that’s coming behind us is going to get rid of all that. Instead of looking back, they will move forward.
