‘Carpetbagger’ editor
For a true Southerner, a carpetbagger is the most despicable of all creatures.
I don’t know where Tim Kalich is from, nor does it matter. With his continued front-page articles on the flag (“Company will remove pro-state-flag billboard,” Oct. 1), he fits the bill.
“A carpetbagger is so called because all of his belongings fit in a carpet bag.”
“One who went South after the Civil War so as to profiteer from the unsettled social and political conditions of the area.”
“Any opportunistic or exploitive outsider.”
Let it rest.
Election challenge
Regarding Judge Henry Lackey’s dismissal of Sheriel Perkins’ election challenge:
If I could do a backflip, I would. I’m hoping everyone will sit down and shut up, but as the judge said, it is a racially divided town and that ain’t gonna happen anytime soon.

Hey, it is me again. Before you write your editorial about the mass shooting in Oregon, I want you to know that I agree with you Republicans.
Everyone should have a gun. If you have a dog, give it a gun. Because we all know that guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Wink, wink.
