Leflore schools
Regarding the article “Judge blocks takeover” (Sept. 30):
I didn’t vote for Gov. Phil Bryant and whoever he will put into place to run the Leflore County School District. It is unconstitutional to nullify our vote.
Gov. Bryant needs to focus on not doing and saying silly things, and not try to undo the votes of an entire county. We can solve our own problems, without his big-government ideals.
I know that he is running out of ways to control people lives. So go to Washington and join the bunch that calls the programs that people pay into all of their lives entitlements.
Social Security and Medicare sure take a large part of my pay. Refund to me the thousands of dollars I’ve paid, with interest, and then I will not expect any payment. Yes I am entitled to what I have paid for.
Sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Regarding the column “What’s wrong with schools” (Oct. 11):
Amen, Marie K. Quinn. I couldn’t have said it better myself. I, too, began my life as an educator numerous years ago and lived through the years of “real” administrators and teachers.
I sadly stand by and watch this spectacle of “unprepared” administrators and teachers. I, too, have seen (and continue to see) administrators and teachers who cannot communicate verbally or on paper. These children don’t stand a chance! Hurry up, takeover!

Republicans
Regarding the letter “Here’s what Republicans believe” (Oct. 11):
It’s time to put the liberals back in the bottle. They aren’t ashamed of going after us (Republicans) and we should certainly not be ashamed to state our beliefs either. If we allow this to continue, “the home of the free and the brave” will be just another European satellite.
