Crime surge
Regarding the article “N. Greenwood crime surge alarms residents” (Nov. 20):
Over the past 40 years, Greenwood public schools — and Greenwood’s students — have been abandoned by those folks who have had the most at stake in quality education. My parents’, my peers’ and my kids’ generations have failed all the children — on either side of the river.
And now, the vestiges of those who denied reality and social responsibility are surprised or “alarmed” that their property is at risk? Who’s going to burglarize a home in Baptist Town when, risking the same prison sentence, all the profit is in North Greenwood?
When parental involvement, leadership, financial and human resources are withdrawn, unemployment, economic decline, poverty and crime are the inevitable results. Only an intellectually dishonest or clueless adult can confuse the cause with the effect.
I’ll agree that the Internet more effectively publicizes society’s ills — internationally, nationally and locally — that have always been there. But I find it offensive that any victim or potential victim ( or any newspaper) gives priority to one demographic or neighborhood.
Karma’s a witch.

If you live in a place where home invasions are the norm this time of year and you choose to continue living there, you’re a fool.
You have one life to live and you put your family through that? Paying high property taxes, ridiculous private school payments, dangerous public schools.
Yes, you are fools.
