Carolyn McAdams
Carolyn McAdams is the best mayor Greenwood has ever had.
She has paved our roads (all over Greenwood), she has spent wisely from the coffers, she has put up those much-needed nice new lights on the Main Street entrance into Greenwood from U.S. 49S, she has brought commerce to our city, and she has elevated the city of Greenwood to greater heights in our state. There are other projects that she has accomplished that I hope others will expound on.
Now, with the approval of the Greenwood City Council, she has opposed House Bill 1523, which makes it clear that Greenwood is not about discrimination. She has been a fair and caring mayor.
Now, if we could just get her to run for president She would be the best choice. My advice: Run, Carolyn, run!

Charter schools
Regarding Wyatt Emmerich’s column “Legislature hit some homers” (April 29):
School systems are integrated systems, not isolated aberrations. For every Pollyanna charter school, there are as many miserable failures run by resource-sucking con artists.
Either fund public schools as required by law, or shut the whole thing down and start all over. Otherwise, the result is a continuing deterioration of 90 percent of students’ education and a totally unproven prospect of benefiting something less than 10 percent.
This is a case where “repair” is far more effective and cost-efficient than “replacement.”

Amy Grant concert
Regarding the article “Many tickets for Amy Grant concert remain” (April 29):
Most folks go to church on Sunday night. Maybe the powers that be should look at better times for turnout.
