Earnest Conrod
Regarding the article “State may free deputy’s killer” (June 21):
It was wrong of former Gov. Haley Barbour to release Tywanda Jackson. She was a murderer and deserved to spend every day she had left in jail, as does Earnest Conrod.
In jail or out of jail, he will be a burden on the taxpayers either as an indigent or on Medicaid, just as Jackson is. Let him be a burden in jail.
The disrespect shown by the former governor to the memory of the deceased and his family, the courts and jury that convicted the murderer disgusts me.

The state will save money? Don’t make me laugh.
Earnest Conrod will probably get his medical care paid by Medicare or Medicaid and leave an unpaid bill at Greenwood Leflore Hospital for the county to absorb.

If Earnest Conrod is released, the state will still have to pay for his medical care. One way or another he will still cost Mississippi money.
My aunt lost her husband, and his two children lost their father.
Conrod should not be released!

Life jackets
Regarding the comment about life jackets from sandman in “My Two Cents” (June 21):
Yes, it is your decision to protect or not to protect your head when riding a motorcycle, or to not wear a life jacket when out on the boat.
But, if you do crack your silly skull as you bounce along the hot highway and don’t die and remain in a vegetative state, then it’s my tax dollars that will keep your sorry self alive on a respirator.
I can tell you don’t have much of a sense of self.
