Karl Oliver
Regarding the editorial “Oliver receives dressing-down” (June 7):
I agree the legislative special session was overshadowed by the 1½-hour reprimand of Rep. Karl Oliver.
As a supporter of Confederate monuments, I want a representative who can be effective. Rep. Oliver cannot be effective, and that is a problem.
Rep. Oliver’s actions have caused a distraction from the real stuff, policy stuff: tax cuts, right-sizing of government, and economic development, stuff that impacts people’s lives. But also Rep. Oliver has damaged the Republican Party not only in Mississippi but elsewhere.
The people of Carroll, Leflore, Grenada, Montgomery and Webster counties have a representative who not only is a distraction but will never have any influence in the Legislature. That is not fair to anyone.
For the good of the citizens of District 46, the Republican Party and the Legislature, he needs to resign. The cost of a special election to replace Rep. Oliver will be money well-spent.

Brick streets
Regarding the criticism of Greenwood’s brick streets in “My Two Cents” (June 8):
All the brick streets look good. We love all the brick streets in Greenwood. Leave them alone.
And we love Rail Spike Park, too.

James Comey
Regarding the article “Comey: Trump administration has spread ‘lies’” (June 8):
James Comey has shown once again that he’s a total flake. Donald Trump should have fired him the first day he took office.
