Sports coverage
Has Sports Editor Bill Burrus forgotten that there are three public schools in our area as well as Pillow Academy?
The two articles recently printed regarding the upcoming high school football season have featured pictures of Pillow. What about:
• The Leflore County Tigers, who have a new head football coach?
• The Greenwood Bulldogs, who are practicing hard to get that second consecutive district title?
• The Amanda Elzy Panthers, who are building a team without the help of graduate Jermaine Whitehead?
All sound like topics of interest to me.
Let's give all of our Greenwood teams a little of the "spotlight.”
Wilton Neal
Why is Carroll County Tax Assessor Wilton Neal still whistling, singing and speaking at the political rallies in Carroll County? He is “retired” and getting a government retirement check and still working as tax assessor.
Is he afraid his hand-picked clerk is not capable of getting elected to office?
The other candidates do no have back-up speakers. They are standing on their own.
Let’s be fair to all candidates.
Watch Dog
Carroll constable
I would like to comment on the race for Carroll County constable for the Southern District.
Allen Vance stated that he is a DUI instructor. Rob Banks is a master instructor in DUI and teaches the DUI instructors.
Vance said that he is a member of STORM (Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi). Rob Banks is the president of STORM.
Rob Banks also has a wall full of certifications, but the most important one is he is an ordained minister. I have had the chance to hear him preach, and he was great.
