Abortion
Regarding the article (“Judge extends abortion law block,” July 12):
My question is, Who are the patients? Obviously not the dead babies, so the patients must be the women having an abortion.
Yes, they “chose” to have it, but don’t we think a few of them at least would like to know that the doctor performing the procedure is properly certified to admit them to the hospital and look after them if things go sour?
An unwanted pregnancy and such an emotionally draining decision are a pretty stressful situation for any young woman. Many citizens believe, regardless of our opinion of their “choice,” that they are deserving of adequate and professional medical treatment for the procedure to ensure their safety. And how is the state to determine whether these abortions are legitimate medical procedures done safely when the physicians performing them are allowed to peddle off their casualties and not take responsibility for treating them when they end up in the hospital with complications?
Looks like abortion fans really don’t care much about the health of the woman who has one.

Handicap parking
Regarding the comment in “My Two Cents” Friday about handicap parking:
It is supposedly a violation of law to occupy a handicap parking place unless your vehicle has a handicap tag or permit. This includes disabled veterans’ tags.
You cannot go a day from Grand Boulevard westward on Park Avenue all the way to Fort Pemberton without seeing a police car parked in the fire lane at one or more businesses. While at that business, how hard would it be for the officers to patrol the handicap spaces and issue citations?
What do you think, Chief Purnell?
Just an ole crippled-up who has been better with a handicap permit properly displayed
Mike Chaney
In the editorial “Too soon in praise for Mike Chaney” (July 13), you wrote, “Mike Chaney has us confused.”
Who is us? Surely not everyone.
