Supervisor vehicles
Regarding the comment about supervisor vehicles by “Disgusted Taxpayer” in “My Two Cents” April 5:
Here’s a prime example. Some person purchased a living room suite. For five weeks, the old furniture has sat on the side of the road in Berclair. Some more rubbish has also been added.
So what purpose do these vehicles driven by the Leflore County supervisors serve? I have the answer. Nothing. It’s plain to see they are not serving the community any good.
The road has been paved every week, so I’m quite certain the supervisor has been informed of this matter.
A change has got to come. I can do better than this on a stormy day.
Use the county vehicles as intended. Ride your ward and make sure it is clean.
Just Sad
Crop dusters
Regarding Bill Lavender’s letters to the editor (“Don’t slam all ag pilots for one bad apple,” April 15; “Critic of crop dusters is misinformed,” April 3):
I ask you, Bill Lavender, Why do crop dusters and the farmers who employ them feel free to violate pesticide and flight regulations like never before?
Crop dusting up close to towns is a violation of a regulation.
We observe crop dusters flying across the city of Greenwood under the designated 1,000 feet (mandated by the National Transportation Safety Board), drizzling us from airstrip to field destination, and using our neighborhoods to make turn-backs to the fields.
Do powerful factions influence an attitude of superiority and exploitation of unsuspecting citizens on the ground?
You ask where’s proof? Maybe proof isn’t to be had, except in our own eyes, minds and mouths.
Charter school
Regarding the article “Charter middle school applicant lands grant” (April 19):
Congratulations on the grant, Tamala Boyd Shaw! I support your vision and hope your proposal for Leflore Legacy Academy is selected to become a charter school.
