Beer festival
Regarding the article “Beer fest on tap for March” (Feb. 20):
Are you serious? Greenwood has really lowered its standards if it is wanting to bring in such a crowd of drunks.
I totally agree with Concerned Citizen’s comment in “My Two Cents” March 1 on this. The area churches should not stand for this type of entertainment. I bet there will be small children there.

The issue of beer being served at Greenwood functions has been debated for years. I don’t have an opinion on this, but I do think the title of this function (“Ramcat Rhythm and Brews”) was not well thought out.

Vaiden police chief
Vaiden police chief Allen Vance being arrested is so bogus!
Chief Vance is the sweetest, kindest person I know. I am glad the town’s Board of Aldermen kept him on the job, because ever since Allen Vance has been in office, you don’t have all that foolishness that goes on in Vaiden. I feel very confident and safe with him in office.
Mayor Melvin Haw-thorne needs to stand behind this man at this time. There is no way Allen would place his career or reputation on the line or shame his beautiful, sweet mother and sister.
I’m praying, Chief Vance, that the bogus charges will be dismissed.
Would a guilty man turn himself in? I think not.
Bill Crump
How wonderful that the Commonwealth chose Bill Crump for the 2013 Community Service Award.
He has worked tirelessly to promote Greenwood, and it’s time for him to be recognized for all the good things he has done.
Well done, Commonwealth! And well done, Bill!
