Bike helmet law
Regarding the article “Mayor wants helmet law” (July 16):
This is stupid. Let me take care of me. Stay out of my life. I don’t need big mama looking out for me.
Next you will want me to wear elbow and knee pads because in most accidents where people fall down, they hurt their knees and elbows.
When will this stupidity end? Please let me enjoy my freedom and let me worry about my safety.
Greenwood can’t enforce the laws it already has, so why make more stupid laws that will infringe on my freedom?
If riders want to wear a helmet, I support them to do so. Just don’t push your safety Nazi ideals on me.

The city needs to tend to real police business such as crime, firefighting, garbage collection, sewers, streets etc. But whatever the city does, it needs to stay way out of the bicycle business of its residents.
The city officials also need to stop trying to turn Greenwood into another Oxford. I hear them say all the time how Oxford has this and that, but I have news for you: This is not Oxford! This is Greenwood. If you like Oxford better, please move there and leave Greenwood alone.
Remember, the citizens voted you in to represent us and not for you to force your personal opinions and beliefs onto us. Tend to the real city business and stay out of our personal business.
You Can’t Fix Stupid
Greenwood police
I’ve read the anti-Greenwood Police Department comments in “My Two Cents” with little or no reaction.
However, Friday night I saw mess they are in person.
A young lady who was clearly sober, professional and intelligent was literally harassed because she would not submit to a sobriety test although her car was parked. When she asked why, the officer said her speech was slurred; yet, he asked for a sobriety test before she said anything.
I’d hate to be this young lady. It seems the police target her type while there are other unscrupulous individuals who are obviously intoxicated laughing and going about their day,
Clearly, the GPD is out of control.
