Montrell Greene
Regarding the article “Greene says no to initiative” (June 27):
What joy! We got rid of the one person who secured the “Excellence for All” grant, is knowledgeable in securing matching grant funds, could have created the necessary curriculum at no extra cost to the district (and was trained and trained a vast number of principals and directors in Mississippi), and had the ninth-grade students and parents excited about the chance of better education, and instead replaced her with someone who denies the grant because if it falls, he’ll look foolish.
I had small hopes for Dr. Montrell Greene as superintendent of education because of the baccalaureate program he did in Cleveland, but now he is denying Greenwood children an opportunity.
Our councilmen who approved this school board and the school board that chose Greene while stepping on the throats of parental input and common sense are a phenomenal failure.

And you think Paula Deen is racist. Just keep reading the Commonwealth.

Randy Weeks
I enjoy reading Randy Weeks’ column on Fridays in the Commonwealth. Thank you for including it.
I especially enjoyed the latest (“Thoughts Jesus might have had about freedom,” June 28). It put a fresh spin on WWJD.
Lee Smith
Regarding the article “Valley names softball coach interim AD” (June 30):
Lee Smith is a worthy selection!
