Robert Collins
I think the person who anonymously commented in “My Two Cents” (Feb. 23) on Leflore County Supervisor Robert Collins’ education missed the point.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Mr. Collins over several years before he got elected to anything. He has achieved in spite of the lack of a formal education. He shows the value of perseverance and hard work. He is a good businessman who has succeeded. I imagine he is going to be a good board president.
Education is a great thing, but managing to succeed without it is also an accomplishment.

I take offense at anyone who would criticize Supervisor Robert Collins for his lack of formal education.
I do not know the academic record for Mr. Collins, but what is obvious to me and many others is the wisdom this individual demonstrates.
He is a man who has a sense of purpose without a personal agenda, a man who provides a voice for those unable to speak for themselves, and a man who strives to provide a better quality of life for all in this community.
Unfortunately, we have many leaders in our area whose degrees far exceed their intelligence.
Remember that the only disciple “qualified” for leadership was Judas Iscariot.
Mr. Collins, thank you for making a difference for so many of us!
Parents group
Regarding the article “Parents for Public Schools chapter sought” (Feb. 23):
My hat is off to these ladies for wanting to do what is best for their children and their schools. It is refreshing to see people come forward to offer their support to the school system without any agenda other than to improve the quality of education provided to their children.
Hopefully, these ladies will receive the support they need from all of Greenwood’s citizens as well as those running the schools. It appears that these ladies have a well- thought-out goal, and it would certainly be in the best interests of the school system and the community if they are welcomed and supported by the school administrators. If they are, it will indicate that the school administration is also interested in improving the district’s ranking.

Jelani Barr
Jelani Barr seems to be everywhere all of the sudden.
Not that I am upset that someone finally questions David Jordan, but who is Barr and where is he from? Did he have the same or similar problems with authority and/or law enforcement in his previous home? And finally, what is a community activist, and is it a compensated position?
